I have been rolling my own for about 6 months and have found that gh pipe tobacco mild blend rolled in a full flavor tube tastes like a marlboro red. In the light tubes they taste like marlboro lights. My wife smokes the lights and I smoke the full flavor. she recently tried rolling full flavor 100's tubes and she says they taste smoother than a marlboro light. I buy mine in a local tobacco shop for 13.49 a 12 oz. bag along with ziz-zag tubes. The taste of gh mild reminds me of sweet chewing tobacco. At the end of the cigarette you still taste tobacco, not just smoke. It is a very enjoyable cigarette. Thanks Joe in Indiana

I tried the Natural over the summer and it wasn't bad. Best suited as a filler/extender/blender, IMHO. I picked up the Robust and the Mild last week. Thus far, i'd say the Robust is bland, but it does pack a robust punch. Of the pipe tobacco's that i've tried(~15), the GH Mild tastes the most like a "cigarette-cut" tobacco. It's somewhat bland and just barely strong enough for me in a FF King tube, but i've been reaching for it a lot in the last couple days so i guess i'd have to say i like the stuff. I still like Criss-Cross Original the most, but i think the GH Mild will become a staple for me as well.

Hello,
I've been smoking GH for a few years now and I can tell you honestly; GH is crap tobacco. Having said that; crap costs $12.96 for 12 ounce bag. Yes, I smoke crap! The Rouseco, or natural blend is not all that bad. I first started smoking GH FF and it seemed close to my Marlboro taste. Marlboro has gone way down hill in quality and gone way up in price due to taxing. OTOH, I like to smoke A.B. Rimboche and I blend that with some of the GH just to give it a difference. I do like to smoke just the A.B. Rimboche by itself, yet I'm looking for a bit more spice as well. I have been testing different types sold by D&R and will be satisfied only when I smoke em all! I did smoke only GH for quite some time before I got just plain tired of the crap and set out to find a better tobacco. So far have liked Athey, Ramback Balkan, and Ramback. I tried Picayune and turned a bit green, not sure why. The Ramback Balkan was very smooth and mixes well, but the taste can get lost in the blend; on it's own not enough smoke for me. Ramback Turkish was a bit more than I wanted, but it is a good tobacco. The Athey is a nice pipe smoke and adds to GH a sweet taste due to it's nature. I've found I actually want a smoke that tastes good; Marlboro lost that factor years ago for me. If I want to pay $160.00 a month to smoke, it has got to be better than the poison the national cigarette makers are putting out. Now, when a president notices his taxes shifted smokers to a different smoke; pipe tobacco will fall into the category. IMO the excise tax was a poorly designed farce to wring money out of nearly everyone. The political strategy of making smoking too expensive while benefiting health care doesn't provide a sustained revenue income. Oh well, that is politics and we all fall victim to that.

I'm smoking GH robust blend side to side with TGS full flavor. I like the Golden harvest more and will order it again. I like the huge one pound bags of TGS, seems like it's hard to run out.

Both are hand rolled. Intend on ordering Golden Harvest mint with the next order.

I think TGS full flavor would hold up well to a filter, seems pretty strong.

Hello,
I've not tried TGS yet; I'm sure I will get around to it sometime. The GH tobacco I buy is pipe cut and goes for just under $13.00 for 12 ounce bags. Where I used to buy GH went up to nearly $49.00 for a 16 ounce bag after the tax hike. Cost has a lot to do with what I buy to smoke and so does taste. As I said GH is not a bad tobacco, but I have found other great tasting tobaccos that I pay more for. I am pretty upset with my government along with the major label tobacco industry found a way to really put the screws to smokers. The blatant attitude of we're going to screw you and you are going to like it deal just doesn't sit well with me. I do have to say that the tax to make me quit smoking and reduce fire death by smoking has pushed me to find better tobacco. I've enjoyed smoking much more since the government decided I should monetarily suffer by smoking. There is so many tobaccos out there to try, I'm sure I will be experimenting for a long time to come.

Almost clinical trials! Golden Harvest FF stands up better to the cheap vodka than TGS FF. But don't get me wrong, TGS FF is still my daily smoke.

If it's available in your area, Dubra isn't bad at all for a cheapie mixer.

Heritage vodka from Albertsons. It's vodka alright. The Golden Harvest Robust seems to have some turkish in it, wipes the taste of the vodka aside a little. TGS ff semms to be mostly pretty well done burley, tastes OK, but with a "tang". These are hand rolled. Might try to stuff some tubes soon.

Personally have smoked an estimated 150,000 hand rolled cigarettes. Mostly Top, some Bugler, a little Kite and Midnight Special.

Hmmmm,
Looks like I'll have to get some vodka and test appropriately! I found that mixing Ramback in with my Golden Harvest added a nice little push to the taste overall. I ordered some CockStrong and Two Timer Gold along with my fav tobacco A.Bl Rimboche. There should be some interesting smoking at the homestead for a while. Somewhere I'll find some Latakia tobacco that isn't mixed into something and have some mixing fun with that. I found that Picayune mixed in with GH was pretty good; I guess I'm on the Catch 22 merry-go-round now. I don't mind because it all leads to happier smoking.
